So how does
solar work?
As the need & cost for energy continues to significantly increase we find
ourselves in need of other energy sources.
But how does it all work & will it benefit you?
Why consider solar?
Solar power is one of the most accessible and easiest energy sources to implement on your home or business, it makes for an easy choice to switch from traditional energy providers.
Taking inflation into account, real electricity prices since 2008 have increased by over 133% in WA, and they're still rising. The average yearly cost for electricity is currently around $3,000. The good news? Solar can save up to 60 to 80 percent off that, and more if your system size & design allows.
If you do the numbers, the savings from your power bill can cover most, if not all, of your solar system repayments, creating a positive cash flow investment for your household.
To achieve these benefits of solar and be confident in your purchase, it's extremely important to install a system with quality products through accredited and trusted suppliers who can provide you support for the life of the system.
The process and how it all works.
A simplified process for a solar system and how it works (The GIF below follows the same process for a visual explanation).
-
1.
Solar Panels
Sunlight hits the solar panels and generates an electric current known as DC.
-
2.
Solar Inverter
This electric current flows through to the inverter which turns that DC into AC, the most commonly used form of electricity.
-
3.
Digital Meter
The AC electricity flows from the inverter to the switch board, which directs the current to any appliance using electricity within your home.
-
4.
Power Grid
Any unused electricity is then sent out to the grid. Some homes may even be eligible for the FIT (Feed in tariff), this means that they get paid for any electricity they said back to the grid.
Should you install
solar power?
We all have different reasons for making the switch to solar power and below we list the most common reasons, but for most home and business owners, making the switch can save thousands of dollars each year and with the ROI (return on investment) typically made in less than 5 years, the savings made will stack up into the tens of thousands over the lifetime of the solar system!
Solar power is the easiest and most accessible form of renewable energy for everyday aussies. Everybody knows it works, that's why everybody is doing it.
